Historical
: The B5 model was introduced in summer 1996. It shares platform with the contemporary Audi A4. The first 8-cylinder Passat was introduced in spring 2001. The 4 liter engine has an output of more than 300 hp. The B5 is scheduled to be superseded in year 2004.
